Chapter 13: Dolo

I was on the phone with Henah in hopes that she would give me a break and stop treating me like a redheaded stepchild. She wasn’t breaking though and out of all the bitches that I fucked around with, I had grown to low-key like her pretty ass. We had seen each other a couple of times since Cabo and she was just hella cool to be around but it was apparent that I had blown my chances with her and she wasn’t giving in. It was past three in the morning and I was on the phone begging a bitch that wasn’t in the same city as me for the time of day. After I hung up, I checked myself because this shit wasn’t even me. I didn’t chase these bitches at all and I was tired of stepping outside of my character for this broad, so I deleted her number and placed my phone back in my pocket.

Jaeda had walked inside Denny’s to go grab our food almost 30 minutes ago and she still hadn’t returned. I turned around and shook Tamia. “Aye, T, I’m about to go check on Jae real quick.” She mumbled something and dozed back off. I shook my head and laughed because it was funny to me how most females were always falling asleep in the car after the club.

I stepped out of the truck and walked around the building to the front of the restaurant. It was so packed that we decided to just get our food to go. We couldn’t even park in the regular parking lot. Soon as I got close to the front of the building, I noticed a small crowd had gathered and they were huddled over somebody on the ground. I was about to just mind my business and walk past but you already know niggas always got to be nosey. I looked over one of the bystanders shoulders and my heart dropped to my damn stomach. I pushed through the crowd to get to Jaeda.

“That’s my fucking sister! What the hell happened?” I yelled as I grabbed Jaeda’s body out of the hands of the stranger that was holding her and applying pressure to her torso and chest where I could see blood coming from. I hadn’t heard any gunshots so I wanted to know what the hell had happened.

I turned to the crowd and pulled the arm of the person who was holding Jaeda a minute ago. “Did you see what happened?” I asked the young girl that was kneeling down next to me now.

“Not really,” she said. “I saw the end of it. She was fighting with another girl in the parking lot and then she went down. The girl ran off and I didn’t realize that your sister had been stabbed until I walked up on her. I only knew something was wrong because from what I had seen, your sister was getting the best of the girl and for her to just drop like that was strange and then it took her way too long to get up.
